Manchester, England 2019

Our adventure starts out leaving Tampa and landing in Atlanta GA for hour or so before boarding our big double decker plane. It’s Virgin Airlines so you know it’s nice! Greeted with a free soft pillow and blanket and headphones was very nice while we get settled in for long flight to the UK. This is going to be a trip of a lifetime. We have visited Europe before, 19 years ago, and it was fabulous. We did not visit the same countries though, so very eager to visit the places we’ve only dreamed of visiting! Come along with us and enjoy our photos and videos and let us know what you think.

Great food. Great service. Another thing that was nice was they include free alcoholic drinks and their snacks are actually good!! Comfortable flight and would highly recommend you fly Virgin Airlines.

Finally landed in Manchester to take our taxi to the hotel. Met very nice cab driver who kept us entertained the entire trip.

Our first English cab ride!! Welcome to Manchester. The cab cost was 33 pounds which we tipped him few bucks so was 35 pounds which is $39.78 US money. It was a little drive to our hotel so cost was fair I think.

This is our hotel, The Britannia Hotel which it very historic and was built in 1852 and originally a factory to be later converted to a private residence and visited by many royals! Later was converted to a hotel and is very charming with very nice staff. We were welcomed and allowed to check in early, which we appreciated. Our room cost was reasonable at 119.00 pounds which was $135 US dollars for the night. The room is small and dated with a double bed which is not comfortable but I can sleep on a floor just as long as I’m in Europe!

We took a short nap after feeling exhausted from our long trip and woke up and took another stroll through the city to take some more pictures.

This was our first English breakfast and coffee. Later we had dinner a cute cafe where we sat by the window enjoying our view of Manchester double decker buses and trains pass by. Dinner was good and costs 30 pounds which was $34.00 US money.

We had to visit the oldest pub in Manchester and the smallest. It truly was the smallest. You walk in your in a room with a small bar in front of you and and turn right to see small room with few tables, very cozy, and that’s it!

We didn’t stay for a drink lol but had one next door at the Old Monkey! Cute English pub. Very busy but quaint.

After a beer we ventured down some side streets and found a few interesting people who agreed to be in our pictures, lol.

We has a nice long day in Manchester and finally decided to turn in since we were up early the next day to get prepared for our exciting trip to Amsterdam! We left our hotel and walked a few blocks north to the train station. Thank goodness we didn’t bring but one bag each because that five minute walk was longer than I preferred. The train station was nice and well organized. I have only been in one other train station in my life so it was exciting except for my lack of oxygen from hiking up the hills to get to the station. Here are a few pictures.

The hike through that station was nothing compared to the nightmare of getting off train into the airport and through the line to check in and then customs. They were nice and quick. I got searched, lol, so I guess I looked suspicious! But eventually we got on our plane, exhausted from our five mile hike through the airport and up a thousand stairs! I slept the entire flight and awoke to another airport with more lines. But we arrived in Amsterdam excited for our next adventure! Keep coming back for more info and pictures and let me know what you think. Happy Travels.
