Our trip to Vermont was amazing. I left with the promise to my husband that I would find that little Hallmark town in all my favorite Hallmark Christmas movies. We decided to visit the Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, Vermont. The lodge is beautiful and has a long history. My husband Eric actually picked out where we would stay and we were not disappointed. The Trapp Family Lodge stood high on top of a hill with a very long road to reach it. The mountain resort sits on 2500 acres and its design is inspired by Austrian architecture and European -style accommodations. We felt very welcomed upon arrival and our room was very big with a perfect view from the second floor in the middle of the lodge overlooking the valley. We watched the snow fall from our window and the lodge became even more beautiful covered in snow. I am sure this lodge is wonderful all year long, but the winter is spectacular. The lodge is overlooking the quaint little town of Stowe, Vermont where there are cute little shops with all types of wonderful things to buy, which we love to do on vacation, and the beautiful Stowe Mountain Lodge is located.
The Stowe Mountain Lodge was amazing, huge, with every amenity you could possibly want. This place is expensive so be prepared to spend some money. The shops in the lodge are very nice, but expensive. It is the place to be if you love to ski because they have the slopes right out your front door and ice skating rink as well. We loved it, almost stayed there, but we were looking for a more romantic, quaint place to stay and we found it at The Trapp Family Lodge.

The king sized bed was very nice comfortable, which is hard to find in most hotels. We had a large bathroom and nice big cozy white robes they provided for us. The room was always nice and warm, which is important when its freezing outside. The view from our room was beautiful. The staff were very accommodating if you needed anything brought to your room. Once we forgot to turn off our speaker and it wasn’t plugged in. Eric called the lodge and they went to our room, turned off the speaker, found the charger, and plugged it in for us. Now that’s service.

The Trapp Family Lodge also has its own building across the street on the property right next to the main lodge with its own gym, inside pool, store just in case you forgot your bathing suit, etc. and an outside jacuzzi. They also have a cute little restaurant just down the driveway for your morning coffee and danish, with cozy little fireplace and farmhouse style tables. The brewery is further down the driveway and has great food, good prices, and great service. There is so much to do on this property that we have to come back and finish hiking, skiing, and maybe even snowmobile riding!
We read in the local paper about a small town an hour or so away from Stowe that was having its yearly Christmas parade so decided to go and check it out, and this little town was my Hallmark dream. The town of Woodstock, Vermont was like walking into one of my Hallmark movies, from the Victorian dressed Christmas Carolers to the local Christmas tree lighting, I was in heaven. This little town looked just as I expected from a small town in Vermont, where I never wanted to leave. This town had great little shops to buy your perfect winter coat, sweater, and especially your very own Vermont flannel. We spend a lot of money in the Vermont flannel store, Eric wanted one of everything! The parade was really nice with all the horse drawn carriages and especially Santa! The Christmas tree lighting and celebration in the center of town was so fun, we took lots of pictures to share. We of course took a picture of one of many wooden bridges I had always wanted to see. The homes were beautiful and typical Vermont! We will certainly go back and hope to stay in the fabulous Woodstock Inn and Resort, where we had a wonderful lunch before the parade started. Great food, good prices, and great service. This resort was beautiful inside and out. Entering the front door you are welcomed to a fireplace with lots of comfortable chairs to fall into and a bar with restaurant to settle in and have your favorite hot drink. It was very cold, but we had our winter coats, gloves, and hats and of course my scarf! Those of you who know me, know how much I love my winter scarfs!

The day we decided to go see Stowe Mountain Lodge up and close was amazing. The ski slope was so beautiful but intimidating. We have only been skiing once, but we want to learn. The kids make it look so easy, but we are too old for broken bones! We plan to take lessons before we go to Montana in Nov. 2018. Here are a few pictures of us when we took a ride on the ski lift and our view were amazing. Freezing weather but we didn’t care. We then took our first ever sleigh ride. Just like my Hallmark movies! We loved it. It was cold, but so worth it. The horses are beautiful, big, and can pull a huge sleigh with us in it, is amazing, lol. You have to go on a sleigh ride at least once in your life. The one we picked is right down the hill from Stowe mountain called Gentle Giants Sleigh Rides and Carriage Rides. The cute old man who drove the sleigh was very nice and informative of some of the history of Stowe Mountain. My day was complete. The sleigh ride costs about 40.00 each. Just call them and see what the price is for the time of year.
